Forth Ports proposes expansion plans for Tilbury3 in Thames Freeport
The proposed new T3 port area aims to attract investment, trade, and jobs to the region via tax incentives.
UK-based port operator Forth Ports has revealed plans to expand the Port of Tilbury with a new 100-acre development known as Tilbury3 (T3), which is set to enhance the Thames-based port and industrial complex. Forth Ports has submitted an outline planning application to Thurrock Council for the redevelopment of the brownfield site adjacent to T2. Liverpool to Manchester rail line could be 'absolutely transformational'

A proposed new rail line between Liverpool and Manchester would be “absolutely transformational” for two of Britain’s “most famous and globally significant cities” according to the leader of Liverpool Council. Mayors Steve Rotheram and Andy Burnham have called on the government to back plans for the construction of a new Liverpool-Manchester railway to underpin wider proposals for a “Northern Arc.”
The leaders of the Liverpool City Region and Greater Manchester combined authorities are presenting a report to government officials outlining how the new line - which would stretch from Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Piccadilly - could deliver a £15bn boost to the economy. Graham selected for £90M Belfast deep-water terminal
Graham Construction has been appointed the main contractor for the initial phase of a £90M deep-water terminal in Belfast, with work on the project due to start this week.
The new deep-water terminal at Belfast Harbour will be able to accommodate some of the world’s largest cruise vessels, while also expanding the port’s capacity for offshore wind turbine assembly and installation. Construction bucks UK trend as vacancies rise
Vacancies in the construction sector have risen despite a fall across the wider UK economy, according to the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) data.
Job openings in construction rose to 39,000 in the three months to March 2025 – up from 35,000 the previous quarter and 2,000 higher than the first quarter of last year, the ONS revealed today (15 April). Read more here...
